Rotherham charities calling on businesses to club together for charity golf day
Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity and Rotherham Cancer Care Centre are teeing up a special charity golf day and calling on local businesses to get a slice of the action.
Taking place on Friday 20 September in the leafy setting of Rotherham Golf Club, the joint charity golf day aims to forge stronger links between the two charities and the local business community, and with just five team spaces remaining, organisers are on par to achieve a sell-out event.
Sponsored by Apex Consulting Engineers, participants will be treated to a complimentary networking breakfast, before enjoying a round of competitive golf and ending the day with a celebratory two-course meal.
Proceeds from the day will be divided equally between the two charities, and the event aims to build on the success of the very first joint collaboration between the two charities which saw thousands of pounds raised by local businesses.
Rachael Dawes, Head of Fundraising at Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity said “Following the success of last years’ golf day, we’ve brought the popular event back for 2024! We saw 16 teams join us last year for a fantastic day of golf, comradery and networking and this year the event is bigger and better!
“By getting involved, your business will be supporting two incredible local charities, which make a difference in our community. At Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity, we fund vital projects and equipment within the hospital that the NHS cannot afford and it’s thanks to events like our Golf Day, that we’re able to continue the work we do.”
With businesses such as Wentworth Woodhouse and Evermill Brickwork Ltd already signed up, the competition will be on to see who will be crowned the charity golf champions at one of the region’s most prestigious golf clubs.
Steve Burns, Chairman and Trustee at Rotherham Cancer Care said: “This year will see Rotherham Cancer Care Centre celebrate its 20th anniversary. During that time the centre has helped thousands of people living across Rotherham to talk about their fears, access counselling and improve their quality of life.
“Our collaboration with Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity created a memorable day for everyone who took part and whether you are a seasoned golf player, or have never picked up a golf club before, there are plenty of different ways in which businesses can play a part in supporting this wonderful event.”
Entry to the event costs £260, with up to four players taking part in each team.
