The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust welcomes new Medical Director

The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust has welcomed a new Medical Director, Dr Jo Beahan.

Although originally from the Wirral, Dr Beahan is no stranger to South Yorkshire, having lived in the area since graduating from Sheffield University in 1995.

Jo specialised in emergency medicine and has been a consultant since 2008. She has worked in Barnsley since then but knows Rotherham well. In fact, Dr Beahan’s first ever job, as Junior House Officer, was at Rotherham Hospital, and she had a spell in the emergency department from 2006 to 2008.

Dr Beahan said: “I joined the Trust in December and I’m looking forward to working closely with medical staff and consultants to improve care for our patients.

My key areas of interest include education and training, developing new workforce models and patient flow processes.

My first job was at Rotherham, so it really feels like I’ve come full circle.”

Jo will continue to work clinically and will be based in the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre one day a week.
