Sytner’s generous offering to help keep the people of Rotherham safe

A local car dealership has loaned The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust a 4x4 vehicle for the twelfth year in a row to use over the winter period.

Sytner Land Rover, based in Sheffield, recently handed over the keys to the Land Rover Discovery which will be used by the Trust’s Estates team. It will be used to ensure that the team can get to the hospital and keep the grounds free from snow and ice during periods of bad weather to make sure patients can still access services.

The Land Rover will also be on hand to transport key members of staff into work so that they can still treat patients in the event that there are no other forms of transport available.

Chris Tobin, Head of Estates, said: “We’re extremely grateful to Sytner for once again providing us with a Land Rover. The recent cold snap is a sharp reminder of the impact bad weather can have on people trying to reach our sites. The Land Rover is a very valuable asset to help us keep our services running and ensure our hospital grounds are safe for patients, visitors and colleagues.

“Having the Land Rover available during the winter months is reassuring because it means we have a reliable, alternative way of getting key colleagues into work if no other methods of transport are available.”

Rachael Dawes, Head of Fundraising at Rotherham Hospital and Community Charity, said: “It’s important that we work together with partners throughout the region to help keep the people of Rotherham safe. We’re so grateful to Sytner for their continued generosity.”

Mike Tyson, Managing Director of Sytner, said: “We are delighted and proud to be in a position to help the community of South Yorkshire once again over this winter period should it be required.”

Throughout winter, we would like to remind people throughout the borough to choose the right care for their needs. NHS 111 can provide medical advice and direct people to the most appropriate service for their needs. People should only attend the Urgent and Emergency Care Centre at Rotherham Hospital in an emergency.
