You will have your blood tests taken at The Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. This will either be in the main hospital or off site. The option will be given to you when you make your appointment.
To make your appointment you will need to telephone 01709 424397.
Blood tests are now ordered electronically so you will not need to take a request form to your appointment.
If you have any queries please telephone the infertility nurse on 01709 427641. If the nurse is not available, please leave a message including your telephone contact number they will contact you as soon as possible. Alternatively, you may contact Mr Faraj’s secretary on 01709 424191.

Day 2 to 4 |
1st day of menstrual bleeding is Day 1. Your blood needs taking on Day 2 to 4 i.e. the next day. If this falls at the weekend or a bank holiday please go on the Monday / Tuesday. |
Day 21 |
Your blood needs taking on Day 21 of your menstrual cycle. Using a calendar count 21 days from the 1st day of menstrual bleeding. If this date falls at the weekend or a bank holiday please go on the Monday / Tuesday. |
Rubella status |
Blood sample can be taken at any time but to reduce the amount of appointments, you could have it taken at the same time as either of the above blood tests. |
Ultrasound scan |
An appointment will be made normally at your next visit with the medical staff. The ultrasound scan is usually an internal scan. You would not need a full bladder. You may have a chaperone with you if you wish. |
H.S.G. |
See information on Hysterosalpingogram letter. There is a telephone number for you to contact them on the 1st day of your next period to book an appointment to have H.S.G. test performed. Prior to this test you will need to have some swabs taken from your vagina to rule out any infections. |
Semen analysis |
An instruction leaflet is supplied. But it is important that you refrain from sexual intercourse for 3 days prior to producing a semen sample. Please write the time and date of producing the sample on the container label and on the request form. Bring sample to the reception desk of the Pathology department on A level of the main hospital between 9am and 1pm, Monday to Friday (not Bank holidays) within 1 hour of producing the sample and keep sample warm during transportation. Please note we may write to both of you with the results of the semen analysis. If you would prefer not to receive written results please inform us. |
